Shamsher Khan Tomb_banBatala is also home to the high-walled tomb of Shamsher Khan set amidst well-maintained gardens. Legend has it that Emperor Akbar bestowed Batalato Shamsher Khan, his foster brother, as a jagir; who went on to greatly improve and beautify the place. This 16th century Mughal monument, with its striking circular bastions crowned by small domes, houses the cenotaph of Shamsher Khan within a spacious double-height hall.Persian inscriptions, calligraphy, geometric and floral adornments in terracotta and indigo are still visible in part on walls, cornices and arches.
